Exciting Water Adventures to Try in Cebu

I’ve been to Cebu for a couple of times already, but I’ve never experienced the adrenaline rush I’ve been wanting in an adventure until my recent visit a week ago. As I searched and read blogs, I found out that this beautiful province right just in the middle of the country offers adrenaline-packed activities from water to air.

As an adrenaline junkie, I decided to tick-off from my bucket list some of the water adventures I wrote in the beautiful province of Cebu. And since I am travelling solo this time, I have all the opportunity to try the water activities I’ve been wanting to experience. So, the next time you visit Cebu, challenge yourself also to experience this thrilling activities.

1. Canyoning or canyoneering

This water activity is a must try when you want to experience real adrenaline rush in your system. Canyoning or canyoneering is the exploration of a canyon from one point to another using variety of techniques hiking, scrambling, sliding, rapelling, etc. Paricipants here must do the activities with a helmet, harness, life jacket, and appropriate rope systems for safety. What’s exciting here is traversing the canyon and jumping and sliding into natural pools and beautiful mini water falls.

There are two types of canyoneering, the upstream and the downstream canyoneering. The upstream is more physically demanding and requires you to be really physically fit and the latter is fitted for the beginners. The journey starts at the Kanlaob River in Alegria and ends at Kawasan Falls in Badian. And to experience this extreme adventure, you must arrange it with a tour guide who knows the activity so well.

2. Swimming with the Turtles

Moalboal, Cebu is famous with this swimming with the turtle activity. Tourists were brought at the Turtle point to to snorkeling or scuba diving to have a glimpse of the pawikans foraging the area.

3. Sardines Run

You read it right! Do you want to see and swim with thousands of sardines? Well, add this to your water adventure in Moalboal, Cebu and experience this with friends. It’s the main reason why I decided to add Moalboal in my itinerary. I was so excited and thrilled at the same time when I finally reached Moalboal that time because at last I’ll be swimming with the sardines I thought I could only see in de latas! hahah

Well, it is best to do scuba diving or snorkeling for non-divers when you want to really appreciate this activity. What surprised me was the fact that the school of sardines were just 50 meters away from Panagsama Beach, Moalboal! So, if you’re on a budget just rent a snorkel, mask, and a vest and swim where the reef drops to get a glimpse of the sardines run. And don’t ever forget your underwater camera to document this exciting activity.

Quick tips:

  1. If you want to do this 3 activities in just 1 day, you better book a tour package in Klook or Cebu Affordable Tour. You will save time and money especially when you are travelling solo.
  2. You should be in Kawasan falls before 9 am if you don’t want to see your pictures filled with people swimming in the pools as your background instead of the waterfalls.
  3. Bring your own underwater camera.
